Sometimes I just don't think...

Last night Bob had night conferences, and I had to get a few things at Target. It was freezing out, so playing outside was kind of out the question. So I thought, "We'll go to Chick-fil-a! Get a little snack, and she can play in the play area!"

So we park mid-way between Target and Chick-fil-a (first stupid move. Always park close, move car, and park close to other building when it is below freezing out and you have a pokey toddler who won't consent to be carried in a busy parking lot). The walk to Chick-fil-a afte Target was a long one, but Maddie was soooooo psyched to be going there, she didn't care mind much.

We get there and it's PACKED. Well, duh, of course it is. It's 6:30, soccer practice at the nearby sports fields just got out, and the play area is crawling with 8-10 UPPER elementary-aged kids. Some older. Just flying around the place, including the toddler play area. Dashing through it and rolling on the ground in it, mostly. But that wasn't of much concern, because Maddie wasn't happy playing in the toddler area anyway. So last year. She wanted to "go up the steps go up the steps go up the steps!" Um...no.

So we left after 10 minutes and many nasty looks to insane kids whose parents apparently mentally checked out when they picked up their food. I gave them many teacher stares, but didn't have the guts to start a potential fight with a parent over correcting their kid. Not worth it.

SO I bribed her with the prospect of playing Super Why letter games on pbskids.org, and we're going there for breakfast tomorrow. I doubt there will be as many insane children then. I felt so bad though. Can't believe I didn't realize that was no place for a toddler at that time. Sometimes I just don't think.

There's really a place called Chick-fil-a? I thought that was a made up name!
